Really enjoyed reading this.

I love how your images look plausible, and look exactly like a place I would want to find and visit or a place I’ve been. They make me want to go into every BD store I see in Brussels and Paris and go and hang around more in the south of France and Corsica.

This was a great start for 2024! I am also ANGRY that the cute coastal cafe establishment clearly has no consideration for disability access!!! 😆❤️

I understand why the process and equipment questions annoy you. There are some out there who think there may be a magic wand that shortcuts the practicing and there isn't. However, there are others, like me, who are learning and, occasionally, come across a part of a process, or a tool maybe that they were not familiar with and that might open possibilities. Lately I am trying to figure what convenient waterproof ink solutions exist and someone posted about Pentel Energel permanent ink pens. So I'm going to give them a whirl. Anyway, happy new year, and thanks for this and all your other posts.

My permanent ink quest is because I work with watercolor.

That's a good point, Miguel. Thank you. And good luck with the pen search, and your watercolour work! Have good 2024.

Additional question/heckle: are you able to draw isometric freehand by now?

You'd think by now, but alas, no. I still use my trusty set square. The very first VERY loose sketch is freehand though.

The perfect post to start 2024! This thing called the internet has given many the impression there's a magic bullet to producing great work, probably because all people ever see is the finished item, so they never see what it takes to get to that point. I feel that makes some think that if they can grab the 'formula', they can jump the queue; the idea of putting in the hard work and time to develop your own thing just is not on their radar (probably why these 'AI' tools have such a following). Glad you said it!!!
