Really fascinating post. Love seeing the complicated relationship authors have with their work. I’ve read pretty much all your other books but not British Ice. Will get myself a copy
Your creative tenacity is impressive and your reference to Avery Hill Publishing prompted me to look again at two of my favourite graphic stories, both published by Avery Hill - a fact that had passed me by until 30 minutes ago. It was the style that caught my attention, both by Tim Bird: From the city to the sea (2014) and Our Town (2016). Both books, like your own work, take me beyond what I see before me. That is truly a magical quality to have. 🐰
Thank you! Known Tim and Avery Hill a long time now, as we all started out about the same time, and it's always fun to work with friends and see what they do next.
I discovered ”British Ice” in a small neighbourhood bookshop in Sydney, and that was my introduction to your work. It was such a cinematic graphic novel, I loved it and became an instant fan. The clean minimalist style and the fantastic compositions make it a favourite of mine. Glad you pushed through!
I hadn't picked this up yet. I will. Thanks for the reminder.
Hey, thanks! Really hope you enjoy it.

Cheers, Ed. That's really nice to hear, and very much appreciated.
